Zynga Needs a Server-side Systems Engineer

Zynga is looking for a strong server-side Systems Engineer to join our growing team! You'll be responsible for owning the development, deployment and administration of our up-and-coming games. Are you ready to put your ideas into our games that will be viewed instantly by millions?

Responsibilities:
The best candidates will have solid experience developing, deploying and administering web applications utilizing Web 2.0 technologies. You will be joining a team who's committed to working on high quality code in a PHP/LAMP.
You must have experience with database-driven web technologies to work on high-volume, high-availability, large-scale systems.
The Systems Engineer will be instrumental in addressing critical issues on some of our biggest game titles which have several million users across multiple social networks. You must be comfortable working on a complicated code-base with high levels of abstraction.
Required Skills:
- Minimum: Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 2-6 years of experience deploying and administering web-based applications
- Experience with Naigos or other systems monitoring tools
- 1+ years in PHP
- Passion for software development and OO Design
- Familiarity a plus in one or more of the following: Linux, Apache, MySQL
- Excellent teamwork skills, flexibility, and ability to handle multiple tasks
- Experience with version control systems such as Subversion or CVS
- Facebook and/or MySpace platform experience is a plus

Why am I reading this in my RSS feed? I didn't sign up for a recruitment feed. It's not labelled as a paid advertisement, although in a way I hope you're at least getting paid for compromising the value of your fine blog and doubtless losing some readers. None of your recent posts are recruitment spam, please don't start now.
Daniel I'm pleased you are employed but many people are not, so if someone asks I'm happy, since it's infrequent, to oblige. Sorry to say it's not paid. That's not really the only reason to do things.
The position is highly relevant to the readers of this site, so in that respect, I agree with Todd. Maybe in the future, it would be better to have posts along the lines of "Someone from ZZZ Company let me know that they have an opening for a Scalable Systems Engineer working on a large-scale financial system. Here's a link with more details..." That way, the information gets conveyed, but the blog stays technically-focused and you don't end up diluting your content with statements like "ZZZ Company is so awesome!" :)

Well, I was meaning that you could just link to the job listing and not include its text in the post, but what you've done is already an improvement.
If job posts are a service to readers of this blog, then I'd like to point out that Tagged has some very relevant open positions as well. There is a platform engineering role, as well as numerous others, all of which place heavy emphasis on scalability. We're especially interested in hiring people who would contribute actively to the development of scalable open-source technologies.
I'm sure there are a tonne of relevant jobs on Craigslist. Will you post them all, or just the ones that can hire enough recruiters to seek you out and ask? For this and other reasons lots of mailing lists have had to enforce a no job-ad rule in order to remain effective.
If the job market is bad for scaling engineers (which I dispute) and you would like to help folks out, then I suggest starting a new 'scaling jobs' RSS feed, or having a weekly summary post of 'cool scaling jobs'. That's pretty inoffensive and company-agnostic, whereas signing up for a technical blog feed and getting a verbatim recruiter spam is troubling. Your edit definitely helps in that respect by setting context.
Any company buy Zynga would have been fine. Zynga sucks for so many reasons. Not atleast because their entire business models stinks of copycat behaviour and cash-grabbing capitalists.
Dude. Zynga have employed a buttload of people in SF and they can't do that without making money. Maybe you think it's admirable to sit on the moral highground in a hellhole eating ramen for dinner, but I'd rather have a job which pays well. Yes I work there, yes I enjoy it, yes all my coworkers do too to the best of my knowledge, and mostly, yes I love that I don't have to drive miles from home to work in a hi tech environment. Last I saw, being capitalist was what made the USA great and created countrywide wealth to the point that you're poor if you don't have two cars and a cell phone - maybe you should consider Russia as a living option. Sorry for the digression here folks.
